Our Mayor - Sharon Quisenberry
SHARON QUISENBERRY
Ramona's Honorary Mayor
Ramona's winter of 2004 was interesting, to say the least. A top hit song could have been: "Rain, rain, go away." But was it all so bad? Well, not really. I cannot remember when the hills of Ramona were so green and looked so pretty. Ramona, I hardly recognized you!
The unusual wet weather had most of us digging out an unusual personal item - an umbrella.
I hope that is all the digging you had to do.
The year 2004 was an election year. No hanging chads and no computers, but if you didn't "bubble" when you elected to "write in" your candidate's name, it didn't count. All kidding aside, voting is such a privilege and a serious responsibility. Always make sure your vote counts. Stay eligible to vote, stay informed on issues (especially Ramona's issues) and follow guidance on how to vote.
Elected officials in Ramona include the Ramona Community Planning Group, Ramona Unified School District Board of Trustees, and Ramona Municipal Water Board. All groups do a wonderful job in dealing with Ramona's future progress.
My personal vision for Ramona is a well-planned community with orderly implementation in accomplishing the plan.
Ramona remains a great place to raise a family. All Ramona schools strive for academic achievement and success of all students. Big news this year at our schools was the move of the Hanson Lane Elementary to a beautiful, modern facility. The move came with a name change to
Enthusiasm is defined as "great excitement for or interest in a subject or cause." Ramona continues to fill me with enthusiasm. Where else can the Honorary Mayor catch a ride in a horse-drawn carriage at the rodeo parade? I am still giggling!
Each year this community pulls together for annual events such as the Antique, Art and Wine Festival, the Rodeo, and, of course, the Ramona Fair. Folks who move from the city to Ramona have repeatedly told me this community makes more available to the people living here. When
Life is all about enthusiasm. Ramona has done this not only to me, but also to thousands of the good people who live here and love it! As your Honorary Mayor, I want you to know I am always available to you. Ramona remains a wonderful place to live and raise a family. As I have said before, Ramona is about three things - the people, the people, and the people.
I wish you all a great year.
